Change the SQL Server port
Follow these steps if ROBOTILL support asks you to change the SQL port. We suggest 11433, provided another SQL instance or program is not already using it.
On the main computer
- Close ROBOTILL on all computers.
- Open SQL Server Configuration Manager on the main computer (server).
- Expand SQL Server Network Configuration, select Protocols for ROBOTILL, and open TCP/IP. If your ROBOTILL database uses a different instance, select that instance instead.
- On the Protocol tab, check that Enabled and Listen All are both Yes. If Listen All is No, ask support or your IT provider before continuing: IPAll settings do not apply in that configuration.
- On the IP Addresses tab, scroll to IPAll. Clear TCP Dynamic Ports so it is blank (not 0), and set TCP Port to 11433. You do not need to change the individual IP1, IP2 or other IP sections when Listen All is Yes. Click OK.
- Select SQL Server Services, right-click SQL Server (ROBOTILL) (or your selected instance), and choose Restart.
- Allow the new TCP port through the main computer's firewall for your private shop network. For a ROBOTILL-managed installation, open Database Setup > Advanced / support > Other support tools > Allow Additional Computers to Connect. This uses the configured port and updates the firewall rule; it will restart SQL Server again. For an IT-managed installation, ask your IT provider to update the firewall.
Create a new setup file for additional computers
On the main computer, open Database Setup > Set up another computer > Save setup file. Setup verifies the connection and detects the changed port if the old address no longer works.
On each additional computer, open Database Setup and use Choose setup file to import this new file. There is no need to enter the server name, instance or port manually. Do not reuse the old setup file. See the additional-computer instructions.
If Setup still reports an error, save its support log and send it to ROBOTILL support.
