Restaurant - Quick Start Guide

Getting Started

You can watch the video or follow the instructions below to set up your restaurant. Note that these are just the very basics - there is a lot more you can do.

Step 1: Setting up your Restaurant

Open ROBOTILL Manager and log in. If you haven't changed your password yet, the username is 'admin' and the password is 'password'.

The Restaurant module (also used for Bars and Fast Food stores), uses Categories to group products together. You use Categories to create your menu items. Examples for Categories can be 'Breakfast Menu', Lunch Menu', 'Hot Drinks', 'Spirits', 'Shooters', etc. To get started we will just add one Category 'Breakfast Menu'.

Go to Setup > 'Product Categrories'. Click on 'Add Category'

For category type in 'Breakfast Menu' and click on 'Add'. You don't need to type a description and the rest is not needed for now (but if you want to know what the rest of the settings are for you can look at POS Categories').

Step 2: Add a waiter or choose not to use waiters

If you don't want to use waiters ...

In ROBOTILL Manager, go to Setup > System Configuration > Retail Specific > Restaurant Settings. Check the box that says 'Don't allocate waiters to tables' and click on Update.

If you do want to use waiters ...

We will add one waiter for now. Go to ROBOTILL Manager > Setup > Users and click on 'Add User'.

Add Waiter

Enter a username and a PIN of 55555 (you can use any number). The name and surname is optional. Click on 'Add User'.

Step 3: Add a product to sell

We now need to add at least one item that we can sell. Go to ROBOTILL Manager > Products and Stock > Product Setup. Click on 'Add Item' (bottom left of the products screen).

  1. Enter 'Sunrise Breakfast' (or anything you want) for the description.
  2. Enter 'SUNRISE' for the item code.
  3. Select the 'Breakfast Menu' Category (or the correct category).
  4. Select a tax option (you can also select 'no tax')
  5. Enter a price including tax (the rest will be calculated)
  6. Click on 'Add Item'.

That's it! You are now ready for your first sale.

Step 4: Do your first sale

You can leave ROBOTILL Manager open or close it. It does not need to be open when you are doing sales.

We will use our admin user as our cashier and select our waiter John as our waiter (if you chose to use waiters). Open ROBOTILL Restaurant. Click on 'Login' and enter 12345 (your default admin user PIN).

Once you are logged in you need to select a table for your first customer.

Click on 'Select Table'. At this stage, there will only be one table (you can add tables and set up your floor plan later), click or touch 'Default Table' on the floor plan and then click on 'Select Table'.

If you chose to use waiters, you will then be asked to select a waiter. Click on 'John' to select John as our waiter for this table.

You will notice that our selected waiter and table is displayed on top of the screen. You can now click on the Breakfast Menu and then on the Sunrise Breakfast product to add it to your first sale.

You can increase the quantity by pressing the PAGE-UP button or you can click on the QTY button below the sale items.

There is a lot more we can do (print the order, print an intermediate bill, add a tip, add more items and split the bill, etc), but for now we will just complete the sale. Click on Pay or press F5.

Restaurant Pay

Enter an amount of 100 (just to see how change is displayed) and press ENTER or click on 'Cash'. Note that a customer can use more than one method to pay for a single sale.

The amount tendered and change will be displayed.

That is it! You completed your first sale!
